Thailand (Previously known as Siam) is mostly known as the Kingdom of Smiles which is bordered by Myanmar from both North & North-West, People's Democratic Republic of Laos from the North & North-East, Cambodia from the East and Malaysia from the South.
The official language of Thailand is Thai, both speaking and writing. The Thai language was created by the King Ramakamhaeng The Great of Sukhothai in 1283. The Thai alphabets are based on the Mon, Khmer and Sanskrit scripts with minor modifications with its characters evolving into a more refine shapes.
The Sukhothai Kingdom was an early Kingdom which previously exist in the Northern Thailand. The Kingdom survived for two centuries before its decline. The first King of Sukhothai is his Majesty the King Sri Indraditya from 1238 to 1270. After the death of the Great Ramakamhaeng, Sukhotai Kingdom starts to decline gradually which led Ayudhya to raise quickly and became a powerful Kingdom from 1351 to 1767 until it was invaded by Myanmar/Burma.
The first King of Ayudhya is his Majesty the King Uthong (or Ramathibodi I) and the last monarch is known to be his Masjesty the King Ekkathat. In 1767, Ayudhya was invaded by Burma (which is now known as Myanmar) who burn the capital Ayudhya into ashes, killing a lot of the religious monk for the golds kept securely in major temples. Destroying libraries which contains literature script, archives and historic records. Finally, bringing the Kingdom of Ayudhya to ruin.
Following the occupation of Burma on Ayudhya, the resistance led by Taksin who became the first and only King of Thonburi. He is then given the name His Majesty the King Taksin The Great for defeating Burma within one year only. He rapidly unified the central Thai and to conquer Cambodia, Penang and re-capture Chiang Mai to permanently unify Thonburi with the Kingdom of Lanna (who was under the occupation of Burma).
In 1782, the King Taksin was then deposed and the King Phraputta Yodfa Chulaloke Rama I take the throne to establish the Chakri Dynasty to rule over Siam (former name of Thailand). The Chakri dynasty is still ruling Thailand up to this day under the King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Phra Bat Somdet Phra Poramintharamaha Bhumibol Adulyadej Mahitalathibet Ramathibodi Chakkrinaruebodin Sayamminthrathirat Borommanatbophit) reign.
The established capital city of Thailand is Krungthep which is mostly known by foreigners as Bangkok. The population of the city is said to be approximately 15millions which make the latter 22nd largest city around the world. Krungthep is bordered by six provinces: Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom.
Krungthep is the center of the country administration where the overall Thai Ministries and government departments are in place. The capical city is also the center of business with most industry products are being trading and shipped to other cities for exportation. Krungthep is also the pillar for the Bank of Thailand and many other banks' headquarters. The top three universities Churalongkorn university, Tummasart University, and Kasertsart Universtity have also found Krungthep.
"Krungthepmahanakhon amonrattanakosin mahinthrayutthaya mahadilokphop noppharatratchathaniburirom udomratchaniwetmahasathanamonphiman-awa-tansathit sakkathatiyawitsanukamprasit" is nominated in the Guinness book of world records as the longest name given to a city, which surely makes Thailand proud.
